Sport24 names Lucas in all-time greatest Bafana XI since readmission

Sport 24 has compiled an all-time greatest Bafana XI since readmission to international football in 1992.

The years following readmission made up the golden era of South African Football – the highlighting moment saw South Africa lift the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on home soil.

Sport 24’s Tasreeq Vardien included Lucas in the publications all time Bafana XI.

Lucas was part of the historic Bafana Bafana team that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on home soil in 1996. Lucas led Bafana Bafana to two FIFA World Cups in 1998 & 2002 and became the first South African footballer to captain a Premier League team when Lucas took over the captain’s armband at Leeds United.
