Lucas returns to Elland Road
This past weekend Lucas returned to the UK with a visit to Elland Road. Before Leeds United’s home game against Birmingham City on Sunday, fans had an opportunity to have Lucas sign copies of the updated paperback edition of Lucas, The Authorised Biography, by Richard Coomber. Lucas, and members of his companys’ management team, were guests of David Haigh and the Leeds United Board. Prior to kick-off, Lucas was interviewed in the Banqueting Suite and also used the opportunity to stop by the Radebe Suite. A 4-0 home win in the televised game left the fans and Lucas leaving Elland Road with a smile.
“I am always excited to come back and catch up with old friends and staff members. I would like to thank David Haigh, other members of the Board, and the staff of Leeds United, for their gracious Yorkshire hospitality. An extra thank you goes to Daniel Jeffery who enabled the day to run so smoothly. It was great to meet the gaffer, Brian McDermott and some of the players before the game. I must say, they made the day memorable with a brilliant result and performance,” said Lucas.
“It’s like a great reunion when I come back. People I played with, people on the coaching and technical staff, people who work in the unsung positions in a football club. There were people I saw every day of my life or every matchday – all of whom work together to create the unique fabric of Leeds United. I have so many memories and I still shed a tear and get goosebumps when I think back to my time with Leeds. Finally, it was wonderful seeing the fans again, and being reminded of how loyal they are to the club, and how supportive they were, and still are, of me.”
